Introduction
Mathysse BEGINE

Since the age of 7, artistic swimming has been an integral part of my life. This demanding sport requires great discipline and hours of intensive training (around 17 hours per week). After 10 years with the "Le BOUST" club in Louvain-La-Neuve, I joined the Brussels-based "BRASS" club, where I won several medals in both duet and team events. Thanks to my physical skills and team spirit, I reached a high level, recognized at national and international competitions. Still as passionate as ever, I continue to progress and aim to earn a sports merit, which would honor my efforts and support my goal of enrolling in a university in the USA to pursue both my studies and athletic career.

Interview

What makes you different?

My experience as a artistic swimmer with both national and international titles has taught me the importance of precision, teamwork, and resilience. Competing at such a high level requires intense focus, physical strength, and the ability to stay calm under pressure, all of which are skills I bring to every performance. My success in artistic swimming is not just about athletic talent but also about dedication, perseverance, and a strong work ethic, which I apply to everything I pursue, whether in sports or academics. This discipline, combined with my passion for learning, makes me a well-rounded and determined individual ready to thrive in new challenges.

Why do you want to play in the U.S college system?

The U.S. college system is ideal for me as it allows me to continue competing in artistic swimming at a high level while pursuing my academic interests in journalism, law, or physiotherapy. I am excited about the opportunity to train with talented athletes and experienced coaches in a setting that values both sports and academics. The flexibility of the U.S. college system will allow me to explore different fields of study while staying focused on my athletic goals. The combination of top-tier athletic programs and diverse academic opportunities makes the U.S. college experience a perfect fit for my ambitions.

Swimming and Life goals

My immediate goal is to join a U.S. college team where I can continue to develop my skills as a artistic swimmer, contributing my experience and commitment to excellence. Academically, I am interested in studying either journalism, law, or physiotherapy, as each field offers a unique way to impact and connect with people. In the long term, I aspire to build a career that allows me to make a positive difference—whether through storytelling in journalism, advocating for others in law, or supporting health and well-being as a physiotherapist. My journey in artistic swimming has taught me resilience, focus, and the importance of dedication, qualities I am eager to apply to my academic and career goals.
